How Da’vidovna Designs was born:

Da’vidovna Designs started off as an expression – a way of combining – my two loves: for nature and for the urban life I had been living. Growing up in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village exposed me to an expressive artistic culture, and spending summers on a boat sailing around islands in Maine made me passionate about everything water, the way the light touches just the tip of the ocean’s edge, and everything green and living that emerges, like the bending birch trees so at home on those granite stone islands. Everywhere I was stimulated by the life around me, in the country and the city. There was inspiration in the pavement on the city street that I walked while looking up to the clear blue sky on a cool day.

Away from the city, the water’s edge and its treasures held me. I started experimenting with jewelry by wrapping wire around sea glass I would find on our summer vacations. Then one summer my mother and I came across a small bead store in Jamestown Rhode Island. I still remember the feeling of pure joy roaming the aisles for exactly the right bead I wanted for my jewelry. I eventually graduated from sea glass to beads to semi-precious gemstones. I had finally found the right medium to express my dual loves, my city roots and the natural world.

Each Da’vidovna Designs piece is individually created. I have given each a special expression of country and city, like a walk in Central Park.
